Utada Hikaru Essentials – 30 essentials tracks for new listeners of J-Pop's unmistakable ambassa
Hello, gays! Another day, another lazy beginning of year, another playlist from us to you. In order to celebrate Utada Hikaru's whole catalog finally being available on Spotify (we're an iTunes content-related website but Spotify is bigger than Apple Music anyways), we're posting this playlist consisting of 30 essential tracks by J-Pop's unmistakable definite ambassador. Hikki has shaped Japan's industry so significantly that most female artists that have come in J-Pop's scene in the past years have clearly been inspired by her in so many levels, from DAOKO to JASMINE to Miliyah Kato. She's the ultimate cool girl, after all.
We've picked these tracks keeping in mind new listeners and new fans who might not know where to begin here. We tried to keep harmony between her well-known singles (VERY well-know by the way, I mean, pretty much every single of hers has been a hit, and has also been featured on some greatest hits collection) and her b-sides, album tracks, and other deep cuts. Been a fan of the good sis Hikaru for 11 years already ok, I know my shit ok, haha. We were very tempted to include Ayu's cover of "Movin' on without you" in this playlist just for good old stan wars times sake. I seriously prefer Ayu's cover to the original. I ain't joking bitch!!!
I hope you guys like it! Don't forget to check out our 2017 best-of playlist as well; it's super lit and the bomb and the shit and I don't know what slangs are current with the kids right now cause I'm getting a bit old and I'm also not a native English speaker. If anyone needs the playlist in download format, let me know! Hikki's catalog is quite small though, y'all should just download all of her albums instead. That's it. MWAH!!!
